When it comes to outdoor family fun, it’s hard to beat snowshoeing. Snowshoeing is cheap, easy to learn, and you can do it just about anywhere there is snow. Golf courses, nature preserves and large open fields are all great for snowshoeing.
Proper gear is important for any outdoor activity. Make sure your children have warm clothing and boots. Nothing ruins a winter family outing quicker than cranky, cold kids! Also, don’t forget the sun protection when you’re outside during the winter. Sun reflected off white snow can be intense and damage both the eyes and skin. Apply sunblock to any exposed skin and be sure to have your children and infants wear sunglasses that have 100% UVA/UVB protection.
Get a group of friends together for a special family outing. If your kids are occupied playing and chatting with friends, you can enjoy the scenery. A thermos of hot chocolate and a healthy snack go a long way in keeping everyone happy.
