Children’s sunglasses are not toys – they are necessary gear. It may be tempting to purchase those brightly colored glasses at the supermarket check out, but don’t do it! Children’s sunglasses are an important purchase because they protect your child’s eyes from damage caused by the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. Many caring parents don’t understand that having your child wear cheap sunglasses without proper UV protection can actually hurt your child’s eyes.

How? Cheap sunglasses may shade your child’s eyes but they allow UV rays to penetrate the eye. Shaded lenses without 100% UVA/UVB protection will relax pupils and allow them to dilate. These dilated pupils will allow more harmful radiation into children’s eyes. This radiation can do long-term and non-reversible damage to your child’s eyes.

So next time you are tempted by the cute novelty sunglasses, consider the consequences. Then head on over to a Real Kid Shades retailer and buy some sunglasses that protect your child’s eyes and look cute too!
