As you might have already noticed, here at Real Kids Shades, we are all about personal expression! There are so many fun and creative ways to help our children express themselves while staying safe.
Backpacks, for instance, come in many colors and patterns and can be a wonderful way for children to express themselves. But this school must-have needs to be used properly or else it can actually be harmful to a child’s health.
Children commonly carry backpacks that are too heavy or are unevenly distributed which can often lead to back pain or injury. To prevent this type of misuse, keep the following backpack tips from Kid’s Health in mind.
First, remember that doctors recommend that backpacks do not add up to 10 to 15 percent of the child’s body weight. Next, make sure that children are carrying backpacks properly, with both straps around each of their shoulders. Lastly, provide children with a light weight backpack that is designed with wide straps, ample compartments for weight distribution, and a padded back for comfort.
